This site is run by Bishal Saha, an independent engineer based in India. I collect as little personal data as I can, use it only to reply to you and run the site, and never sell it or share it for advertising.
What I collect
- Contact and project inquiry forms: your name, email, and whatever else you choose to give (company, phone, project details, budget, timeline). With it I store the page that referred you, any campaign tags in the link (UTM parameters), your IP address and your browser's user agent, to fight spam and understand where inquiries come from.
- Newsletter: your email address, until you unsubscribe (every email has a link).
- Learner accounts (tutorials, discussions, reviews): your email, what you post, and session details (IP address and user agent) to keep your account secure.
- Article views: counted with a one-way hash of your IP address and user agent, so repeat views aren't double-counted. The IP address itself is not stored.
- AI assistant: the name, email and “what best describes you” you enter before chatting, your consent (with the date and policy version), the conversation itself, any thumbs-up or thumbs-down you give, and your IP address and user agent (for rate limits and abuse prevention). Answers are generated by an AI model from my published content; they can be wrong, and the assistant can't make commitments on my behalf.
Cookies and local storage
There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. The site uses cookies only to keep learners signed in and to keep your AI assistant chat going across pages (a random session id, not readable by scripts), and your browser's local storage for preferences such as the colour theme and saved items.
Who else handles your data
Emails (inquiry confirmations, newsletters, sign-in links) are sent through Resend. AI assistant messages are sent to Anthropic (which runs the Claude model that writes the answers) and to Voyage AI, provided through MongoDB (which turns your question into a search vector). The site and its database are hosted with a cloud provider. All of them process data only on my behalf. I'll share data with anyone else only if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Inquiries and messages are kept for as long as we're in touch and up to 24 months after the last contact, then deleted. Newsletter and learner data are kept until you unsubscribe or delete your account. AI assistant conversations are kept for up to 180 days after they end, then deleted, unless you asked to be put in touch (then they're kept with your inquiry).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@iambishal.com and I'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
